 | | SECRETARY OF STATE AGREES NEW POSTS AT APPOINTMENTS COMMISSION |  | | Department of Health | | 02/10/2008 | | | Appointment of Two Non-Executive Directors and One 'Commissioner and Non-Executive Director' to the Appointments Commission
The Secretary of State for Health has made three appointments to the board of the Appointments Commission.
Mrs Betty Thayer and Mrs Jill Robertson have been appointed as new non-executive directors.
Mrs Margaret Scott has been appointed to the combined role of Commissioner and non-executive director.
Mr Bob Nicholls CBE, Mr Michael Taylor CBE TD DL and Mrs Miranda Hughes have formally stepped down as non-executive directors but will remain as Commissioners, together with Mrs Penny Bennett and Mr Gareth Hadley.
The appointments are effective from October 1st 2008.
In making the appointments Health Minister, Ann Keen, said:
"The Appointments Commission provides an important service to the NHS, the Department of Health and across Whitehall. I am sure that Mrs Thayer, Mrs Robertson and Mrs Scott will make an excellent contribution to the development of the Commission and to the recruitment, selection and appointment services it offers."
Anne Watts CBE, Chair of the Appointments Commission, said:
"I am delighted to welcome these new non-executives to the board at this exciting time for the Commission. They bring a tremendous breadth and depth of experience in the recruitment and commercial sectors, which will be invaluable as we work towards becoming the organisation of choice in the recruitment of public appointments.
